The Scene Stealer

 The Scene Stealer Josephine Baker was a black woman who lived from 1906 to 1975, during times of discrimination towards black people. She was an activist in the Civil Rights movement and marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr to fight for black rights. When Josephine was a child in St. Louis, Missouri, she would put on dancing and singing shows for the neighborhood children and parents. In the early years of her career she traveled around the world performing. When Josephine performed the other performers would call her a scene stealer. As she went around the world, she realized that many black people were being treated unfairly. She decided to try and help. Baker wanted all Nationalities to be able to live in peace and be together. She helped Martin Luther King Jr because she believed in nonviolent protests. When Josephine was done performing, she worked for the French Resistance in World War Two, smuggling secret messages.
